Yes it is. The Romanian equivalent of "to retire" is a retrage (transitive form) or a se retrage (reflexive form). It means both "to withdraw" and "to leave", the latter one not necessarily with the meaning of "going into pension", but it can include that.

Thanks for sharing this photos with us, I hope you don't mind if I add just a little detail, the last photo you posted caught my eye, I think General de brigadă Radu Korne is not the one with the back to the camera wearing the black tankers beret, but he stands in the Sd.Kfz. 251 half-track seen in the image attached below.
