There was an interesting article on the Romanian Mercahnt Fleet 1877-1945 in STRANDGUT 60 and 61 (in German). There are published some postcards from my collection.

There are many pictures of "Imparatul Traian", because this was a ship much seen in period post cards, some of them also available on the net. Some good examples:

From russian sources :
These ships were loaned to Russia by romanian government entering war. On 1916 the steam ship Romania was transformed for carrying hydroplanes, and on 1917 other 4 steam ships (former romanians) Dacia, Regelei Carol, Imparatul Traian and Principesa Maria (Prinzessa Marija) also became hydroplane carriers. Sometime called auxiliary cruisers.
Weapons on all : 4-152 and 1-75 mm. Planes : 4 (P.Maria : 1)
Acted as hydroplane carriers : Romania, Dacia, Regele Carol.

Koroli Carol (1898 Glasgow), renamed 19.02.1918 «Ioan Roata». On 03.1918 was taken under control of the Georgian authorities in Batumi, but soon returned by them to Romania.
Dakia (1906 St.Nazaire), renamed 19.02.1918 «The 1907 year». On 01.05.1918, seized in Sevastopol by germans, later returnet to Romania.
Imperator Trajan (1906 St.Nazaire), renamed 19.02.1918 «Sozialnaja Revoliuzija». On 19.06.1918 seized in Sevastopol by germans, later returnet to Romania. Or : Imparatul Traian has retreated from Sevastopol to Novorossiisk 04.1918 - 06.1921.
Rumynija (1905 St.Nazaire), renamed 19.02.1918 «Respublica Rumynija». On 01.05.1918, seized in Sevastopol by germans, later returnet to Romania. Or : seized by the Germans 04/1918 at Sevastopol, surrendered to the British 11/1918, returned 1918.
