That pin is given to those scouts that have entered the S.U.F. (Scouts Unitaire de France). It is given after the scout spent some time among scouts and want's to join, it is weared on the left breast pocket. To receive this pin one has to go through a ceremony named "depunerea promisiunii" in English I think it would be "to give your oath". If I'll find some more info about the pin I'll post them.

The badge you posted has a somewhat 'modern' appearance with a simpler design (see the ornaments, the fleur-de-lis or the eagle). Are you certain the two badges are contemporary? Maybe 'yours' is a more recent version... |

Hi Kevin ,this is an ww1 army scouts c.o. badge. They were awarded after ww1 .
The piece from your scan, is a romanian manufacture(CERBU) of lower quality badge. The most of this badges are made of 900 silver by K. Kullrich ( KK ). I think that it is a very interesting piece. |
