He could be plutonier major and he lost one of his stripes. Or he was just freshly promoted from plutonier to plutonier major.

My guess is the photo dates circa 1928-1930 period. Rank Captain, Thick white aiguillettes indicate Military Gendarne. The number 6 on the cap indicates regiment. Since the color patches and piping on the cap are not white, this person could have been assigned to an infantry or cavalry unit. I can not tell from photo the off color of the patches and piping.


Are you sure that the Rank of this soldier is Captain? I personally have doubts about this because his rank could be plutonier major or plutonier adjutant. Captain’s three stripes are thin while on photo they (three stripes) look thick (wide) to me.

You are correct. The rank is plutonier.
