I have this model. Did you have to modify it very much, or is it accurate enough out of the box? Also, where did you get all your insignia as the CMK model doesn't have them.
Beautiful model, by the way! This post has been edited by Ursulescu on February 20, 2010 06:10 pm |

You need to modify the rear of the turret in order to make it from two straight plates at an angle. Here are some pictures of the building process:
Also I have added a towing support at the end of the vehicle The decals were printed on transparent decal paper, here is a mock-up of the image I've used: Since ink jet printers cannot print white color, you need to paint in white the area that will be covered by the decal, and you'll need to match the color of the mask with the color of the model base color (with a lot of trial and error). Unfortunately in my case, the decals ended up pretty thick. This combination of markings (234, Sr.88., U-010213) is the only one known. There is also a set that can save you from some trouble: http://www.accurate-armour.com/ShowProduct...t=884&cat=47&su Here is an older topic that helped me in building the model: http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?showtopic=4735 Cheers! |

There is a possibility of printing on white decal paper, if you can find it. I had one sheet, but I used it for something else.
The build is great! ThanX for the help. Is there very much converting to be done on the model, or is it only the rear of the turret and the tow loops? This post has been edited by Ursulescu on February 20, 2010 10:23 pm |

White decal paper is useful when you can cut along the margins with ease, but imagine the work of cutting and then aligning all the pieces of the number on turret.
Those two I think are enough. Most of the R-2s also had the rear end as a flat piece instead of three plates, but not all of them. Just follow the link I've given for more details. |

Ok, bad news. Sr.88 was in the 1st Company, 2nd Platoon. I do not know how the connection between Sr. 88 and 234 was made in the book published by MMN where the profile was. There is no "Sr." visible in the photo, because it was painted on the right side.
Sotty, I took the profile for granted without checking. |

Hello,
Can this be something: http://ww2drawings.jexiste.fr/Files/1-Vehi...1-Tanks/R-2.htm Or is it just a drawing and totally wrong? I also would like to know how you made those decals? What font types are they? How did you make those "crown" decals? Very nice model by the way!!! I hope to see more from your work! |

Thanks!
I've never seen a photo with markings like in that drawing. I presume it's pure fantasy. For crowns, crosses and the turret number, I've scanned the color profile from the MMN book and retouched them with an image editor. For the small numbers, Sr and rear plate, I've picked the most appropriate font available. |

Aha, okay, thank you! Now i can hopefully make my own decals too!
As for that site... If you click " others " under Axis in the left you will find some more drawings of Romanian vehicles. You can als find romanian aeroplanes and other things on this site. Hopefully they are not all with fantasy markins since they have a lot of drawings that i want to use for a bit of referance. Especially the vehicles... I have some books but the pictures in them are mostly not that clear... |

By the way..
At this moment i'm in Romania now, visiting my wife's parents in Mizil. Sunday we will baptise our son here. Do you have any suggestions for visiting? I'm planning to try to find if there are any remains of the ww2 Mizil airfield but i'm afraid it just will be " miserie " I hope i wrote that well I have already been in The National Military museum in Buccuresti last year... Unfortunately my father in law is a mathamatic professor/teacher and not a history professor/teacher... So he's not a great help but at least he's trying to be... |

I just recieved one of these tanks for Flames of War, a mini-wargame. Mine's in 1/100th scale and is resin and white metal. I don't think I'm going to change any of it like you did, but I will use your pictures as reference to paint it.
