WorldWar2.ro Forum > Comments and suggestions > New Section?

Posted by: mihnea October 11, 2005 02:40 pm
I would suggest the creation of a new section/ subsection, in witch it should be discussed only the equipment, uniform and hand guns of the Romanian solder in WWII.

It doesn’t seem right to me the discussions about helmets, uniforms, reenactment, etc in the “Collector’s corner”.

I'm especially interested in the answers of the moderators.

For now I think that equipment and weapons can be discussed in the forum http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?showforum=1 (for equipment of ARR and Navy the forums http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?showforum=2 and respectively http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?showforum=2). In the future, if there is enough interest from the forum members, we may consider a forum dedicated to Reenactment.

In the past, since there was little discussion on reenactment and uniforms, there was no need for such a section.

If the members want a section for discussing small arms and uniforms, we should also consider reorganizing the Collector's corner into several sections:
-Small Arms & Uniforms
-Awards & Decorations
-Bazaar (sale section)

We can leave the heavier weapons discussions and equipment to the Romanian Army section.

What do you think about it? Any suggestions?

I think it is a good idea on how to split the http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?showforum=8.

On the other hand, I think that the second section would better bear the name 'Decorations and insignia' as we have already discussed quite a lot of badges that do not qualify as decorations.

In order that the questions regarding small arms and uniforms of the Romanian army in general (appropriate for the Romanian Army forum) not to be mixed with the collectors' acquisitions I propose that:

-Small Arms & Uniforms
-Awards & Decorations

should be synthesized into:

- Exhibitions & Reenactment

so we would have:

- Exhibitions & Reenactment
- Bazaar

Any other thoughts?

I think Victor and Carol I are right. There should be 3 sections:
- Awards and insignia
- Small arms and uniforms
- Bazaar

Ok, but I still I do not want to deprive the Romanian Army forum of questions regarding the uniforms and small arms used by the Army during WW2. We must emphasize somehow that this section is about privately owned small arms and uniforms.

Then we could take them out of the "Field Post" category and make all of them part of a new "Collector's Corner" category, which will include the following forums:
- Awards, Decorations & Badges
- Small arms & Uniforms
- Modelling & Art
- Bazaar

Dragos, for the reenactment I don’t think is necessary a separate section because it’s only at the beginning at this time.

The last idea that Victor posted is, I think, the best for the moment.

This appears to be a very good proposal for how to split the http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?showforum=8.

As a small note, for me "awards" and "decorations" are almost synonyms. I would therefore leave only one of them.

OK, if there aren't any more suggestions or objections, I will make the modifications tommorow.

Posted by: Victor October 14, 2005 08:24 am
It's finally done. I had to manually move over 230 topics.

I have also created a new topic regarding books on the Romanian Army, but now I'm taking a break. I will move topics to it later.

I hope this new arrangement will lead to more interesting discussions.

Congratulations! It’s a very wise operation. This way the forum will be more efficient and more easy to use.

I have finished the "Book Reviews" section as well.

A small note on discussions on books:
- any topic of the type "I am searching for this book, can anyone help etc." belongs to the Bazaar section
- any topic that discusses a newly published or older book belongs to the new section

Are there any comments/suggestions on this matter?

I think we could use the "Books" forum for books and magazines offers and requests too. Maybe the category renamed "Publications" ?

Posted by: Victor October 14, 2005 10:10 am
Or "Books & Magazines"?
So you say we should have a forum called "Bookstore", which should deal with selling/trading of books and magazines, separate from the Bazaar, which chould deal with other selling/trading?

Posted by: dragos October 14, 2005 10:14 am
Something like that, but in the Bookstore we could have also the reviews. At the moment it is pretty thin anyway.

I am for "Books&Magazines".

The rearrangement is a very good job Victor.

How about a section Battlefields finds in the ground, or something like that? biggrin.gif

I have already thought about it and included it in the Small arms & Uniforms section.

Since you highlighted the word, the proper spelling is archaeology. wink.gif

Gen. Dénes

Corrected that. Thanks.

I have moved all the book trading adds from the Bazaar to the Reviews & Bookstore forum in the Books & Magazines section. I don't want to move another topic for at least a week!

So, according to the new forum organization:

- any selling, buying, trading of books should be handled in the "Reviews & Bookstore" forum

- any selling, buying, trading of militaria, photos and other stuff related to the Romanian Army, with the exception of books and magazines should be handled in the "Bazaar" forum

Two more issues. 'Adds' is spelled with one 's' (in fact, the proper word is advertisement). Also, I would spell 'arms' in the title with capital 'A'.

Gen. Dénes

P.S. And, finally, I would use the British English 'colour', instead of the American English 'color'...

Good job Victor. I think it is worth the effort.
