I saw an article about it in a small, local paper (the Hillsboro Argus) a few weeks ago. http://www.oregonlive.com/living/argus/index.ssf?/base/lifestyle/1233084053135900.xml&coll=6 The story was a collaboration between two of the sons of a WWII veteran, Don Smith. I like what Don Smith says about the film: "If it didn't happen exactly that way," said Don Smith, after seeing the film and reading the book, "it should have." I think that says a lot about memory and portrails of historic events. Since the film has a local connection (for me as a Portlander), I'm keeping my eyes open for more information and I'll post something here if I see anything more about it. I ordered the book, so I should get that soon. |

Awe, well, I don't know about bootlegs....The producer said he was going to make arrangements to donate a portion of the proceeds of the film to a TBD charity (my vote is for something along the lines of Wounded Warriors). I'm going to see it later this month at the Salem Film Festival http://www.salemfilmfestival.com/2009/schedule_17.html as that's close to my home. It's also playing at the Indie Spirit Film Festival in Colorado Springs, CO. I'll let you know what I think. |
