Recently I was asked about Bulgarian-made aircraft.

Back in 2001, Air Enthusiast in the UK has published a long, two-part article of mine, titled 'Balkan Birds. Thirty-Five Years of Bulgarian Aircraft Production'(issues Nos. 94 & 96).

Below is the first page of the first part. Next will be the first page of the second part and the production charts of the two main Bulgarian aviation factories, the DAR and KB.

If the Bulgarians can prove with hard facts (a photo would be a satisfactory proof) the story with the helicopter designed, built and tested in 1910 (see the first line in the list of the third post), this can make them the first to create and test a helicopter.

Until then, the story is as valid as a record from the Chinese Middle Ages, where is written that 6 young Chinese built a helicopter with a helix propelled by the elastic force of torsioned strings.
