| What type of weapon is in this picture? A SVT? His clip is verry big for my poin of view, and .. i need some help from somebody with more experience. Iama Picture is from http://iremember.ru/index_e.htm |

| The first soldier is holding an SVT 38 rifle in his hands. The second in the row is an SVT 40. Cannot tell - the picture is very small - if the later is actually an SVT 40 or an AVT 40. The AVT could fire had two fire modes: full auto bursts or normal, semi-auto operation, hence its name: Avtomat Vintovka Tokareva. |

| I think i found the answer: this weapons used rifle bullets, not pistol ones - and for this reason i have doubt -> big clip... Thanks for help, Iama |

| The old but proven 7,62x54R vintovochnyi patron obrazets 1891g ammo... see this link for an article on it: http://www.mosinnagant.net/i3tro4.asp It is a very effective round, with ballistics similar to the U.S. .30 06 or the French 7,5x54 MAS. The gun could be loaded from above - by using normal Mosin charger clips, each holding five rounds - with the magazine in its place, like a classic rifle (as in the FN 49, for instance, or the the SKS), or by replacing the magazine, which held 10 rounds. | The rifles are indeed SVT. The first one is an SVT-38, because of the position of the cleaning rod. The SVT 40, like the second one, use a much more simple stock (one piece) and an under barrel cleaning rod. For the AVT, the only way to tell is to see if there is two cutouts for the safety lever on the stock. |
