| On 9 July 1941 sunk the Soviet submarine SC-206, a source mention that it was near Mangalia due Romanian ships Stihi, Naluka and 3 torpedo boats. Other version are, mines near Constanta or friendly fire by Soviet Destroyer Soobrazitelny. Is there somebody who has more information about this story, the Stihi and Naluka what type of ships were they (gunboats)? Are ther any photo's available oubout these ships and the SC-206? Thanks in advance for the help... ps. With a little luck i make this month my first dive on the Moscva. I will report. |

| NMS Lt. cdor. Stihi Eugen was a gunboat, while NMS Naluca was a torpedo-boat (but not an MTB). The Stihi just signalled that it saw a periscope. It was Naluca who attacked it, first with the 20 mm and 66 mm cannons and then by dropping two salvoes of two depth charges. It was joined by Dor de mare which dropped 5 depth charges. Spots of oil and bubbles appeared at the surface. The explosions were heard and the three MTBs (NMS Viscolul, NMS Vijelia and NMS Viforul) appeared at the site and took over the chase, as the other ships returned to the dredging group assigned to cleat the way for the Deflinul submarine. The three MTBs attacked the submarine and it seems that Viscolul, with lt. cdor. Voinescu on board was the one who probably made the kill, because it lauched the depth charges from directly above the submarine. Spots of oil and air bubbles appeared on the surface and no further propeller sounds from the submarine were heard. However, it is difficult to say if that was the Sc-206 and if it was really sunk then. The coordinates are 43 deg 51.6 minutes Northern latitude and 21 deg 45 minutes Eastern longitude, a little to the North of off teh coast of Mangalia. Hope this helps. |

| Thanks Victor for the interesting information! The Coordinates i had, and i think that the 21 must be 28. You know if there are any photo's available from these ships who were involved in this action? Do you know about more ships who sunk in the Romanian waters during the war? Regards... |
