I recommended some books about E-boat:

Kuhn,Vollmar "Schnellboote im Einsatz",Motorbuch Verlag 1976.
Beaver Paul "W-Boat and Coastal Craft" Patrick Stehens
Also,THis book include some information about E-boat groupe in Black sea;
Gordon William son"German E-boats 1939-45"Ospry.

Thank you Mihai; i will search these books...; i was very surprised when i found out that there were s-boats in the black sea; i never heard someone to talk about this; and it is more misterious, because i read that the germans scutled the s-boats when the russians invaded romania...; i don`t know if all of them , but some ; i wonder , didn`t anyone found some traces of the wrecks? off course, i don`t know if this is true...

Hi,

I think the best book about S-Boote is "Die Deutschen Schnellboote im Zweiten Weltkrieg" by Gerhard Hümmelchen. On page 120-139 there is a section about S-Boats in Black Sea.

May 1942 is correct.

Take also a look here:
http://www.wlb-stuttgart.de/seekrieg/km/sboot/sfl-frames.htm

and look for 1. and 11. Flottille.

Greetings

Darius

I recommend this book http://www.modelism.ro/Romanian_torpedo_boats.htm

It has some info about the S-boot operations in the B;ack Sea.

It contains some info on some S-boats that were on their way to join the Romanian Navy but never made it down the Danube before the 23rd of August.

On page 114/115 there is a photo of a S-Boot type 100 which, according to the caption, had been purchased by the Romanian Navy.
In fact, the caption is a bit vague and I am not sure whether it means that the picture shows an S-Boot that actually belonged to the Romanian Navy or it showed a picture of a German S-boote of a type similar to those purchased by the Romaian Navy. (no national marking of any kind are visible one way or another)

The last paragraph on page 157 says that the Romanian Navy never got the chance to have a "Lursen" [S-Boot] MTB.
