FRT (Fruntas - 1st class private) VIDRIGHIN (the family name) PETRU ESC. I MECANIZAT (Escadronul I mecanizat - 1st mechanized squadron). This fact indicates that the private was part of a cavalry brigade (or, starting 1942, divission), escadron/squadron being the Romanian equivalent for companie/company in the cavalry units. All the cavalry brigades/divisions had a mechanized recon squadron in their composition, which used (until the beginning of 1943) motorcicles and Skoda R 1 light tanks/tankettes. OE. P.M. N-180 I have no idea what the letters from this last line means |
