The village Poiana is near Mamaia ( Black Sea shore) http://poiana-ct.pe-harta.ro/ Poiana village is part of Ovidiu city community http://www.primariaovidiu.ro/orasul-ovidiu.html Datele recensamantului din 1902 arata ca existau la acea data in localitatea Canara (Ovidiu) un numar de 963 de locuitori, 173 de familii stabilite definitiv, 233 de stabiliti vremelnic(argati,ciobani), iar in Poiana – sat care din punct de vedere administrativ se incadreaza orasului Ovidiu, se inregistrau 178 de persoane,46 de familii stabilite definitiv si 9 persoane stabilite vremelnic. Din punct de vedere al componentei nationale, in anul 1902 populatia localitatii Canara (Ovidiu) era formata din 277 de romani, 256 de tatari, 144 de bulgari, 2 germani si 276 – alte nationalitati.
