On the back of this pin is the word Coro - it is difficult to read but I think that's what it says. I have not been able to find this pin anywhere on the internet so if anybody knows what it is I'd like to hear from you. Thanks!

I'm having trouble uploading the photo.  The Host It button does not say anything when I click on it.

Another window with all the details of the image is supposed to open automatically. Do you mean it does not happen?

The white ring is part of the insignia of the Order of the Crown of Romania. As for the remainder, it does not look familiar at all. Could it be a fantasy piece with bits from here and there?

I know what it is.

This piece is convincing as original in all it's components, well made, heavy, in excellent condition. If your comments say you know what it is then why don't you post the answer so that I can know too?

This piece that you have is not complete. This is what should look like.

The set is the pin and the two cufflinks.

It was given to the grand officers from the romanian army to wear this , when they where invited at partyes, or to wear them when they where in active duty.

It was part of the uniform then. When was it introduced? Do you have a decree number?

Posted by: Ahile November 28, 2005 02:56 pm
It was awarded bettwen the years 1881-193? . This was very rare and very beautiful. in my opinion I like the cufflinks very much. The persons who had received the Crown of Romania also was given this items.

That is a shame that we don't see this things very offen.

Interesting... Were they complementary or alternative badges of the Order of the Crown? Do you have the number of the decree which regulates these items?

Posted by: Ahile November 28, 2005 07:38 pm
No I don't know the number of the item.

It was weare when they have the decoration on them, those pin and cufflinks were to have a complete uniform.

I have been directed by an enthusiast to a document written by Nicolae De Stroe through the Asociatiei Germano-Romane. Apparently, the document states that this is a medal of bravery. I have not yet found it.

Also, I emailed mark@marksmedals and this was his reply. "This is a piece of costume jewelry produced by the Coro company in the
1920's. There are collectors out there who collect Coro jewelry and I see
them sell regularly for around $15 on Ebay"

Does anyone have any opinion of this?

This explains the "Coro" on your badge, doesn't it?

Posted by: Ahile November 29, 2005 07:30 am

I have found some information on the http://www.vintagejewelryguide.com/mod-Encyclopedia-displayterm-id-102-vid-4.html. It appears that the badges were pieces of costume jewellery, not official insignia of the Order of the Crown.

I never said that there were insignia.Check my new topic.Order Michael the Brave 1916.

blink.gif I don't get it. Did I misread something in the website for the CORO Company ? It sounded like they operated in the USA and Canada. The West. Started using the stamp CORO in 1942. I don't think that they would have been making patriotic jewelry for the other side in 1942. I think that would have been called back then aiding and abetting the enemy. Today, we embrace it and call it liberalism and an alternative view point. It sounds to me like these pieces were made post WW2 as patriotic jewelry for members in exile.

Another badge from the American Coro company with the eagle and the motto "PRIN NOI INSINE * 14 MARTIE 1881" auctioned on the net (the manufacturing quality of this piece seems rather poor)
