Does anyone know or have information concerning "Manevrele" medals ? Who was awarded these medals ? How many different kinds exist ? How are they worn and on what ribbons ? I have not seen any examples on any medal bars. http://imageshack.us Medal #1 : "CAROL I. REGE AL ROMANIEI" - Gold gilt on brass. Medal #2 : "CAROL I DOMN SI PRIMUL REGE AL ROMANIEI" - Gold gilt on silver, signed "CARNIOL F". Medal #3 : "CAROL I REGE AL ROMANIEI" - Gold gilt on silver. |

Looking closely at the date on this medal I think it is 1895 and not 1893. This agrees with the dates quoted in Krupensky (1) who states that the manouvers in the autumn of 1894, & in September of 1895 by Army Corp I & II, were commemorated by the striking of commercially available medals. The only difference in the two medals being the dates. Army manouvers in 1898 were also commemorated by a medal according to Groner (2). Buzdugan & Niculita (3) also quote a medal was struck in 1911 for the army manouvers of that year. I have an example of this medal in my collection but it is in poor condition.
