To us (Victor,Melinte and me) he was very kind and we were always welcomed to his house.

Unfortunatly,when we first interviewed Titus Axente,he first didn,t wanted to be taped.The first part was the most interesting.
He told us some interesting things about the Me 110,including an accident he had.

One of the best and most successful fighter pilots ever.

Very active in his later years, popularising flying and the history he lived through. I saw him once, during a conference in Ohio, USA. Witty and humble at the same time.

I am very sorry to hear that he passed away. RIP, General Rall.

As far as I know.the comemorative house of Octav Onicescu was demolished.

May General Di Cesare rest in peace. Being from Brazil, I had the rarest of opportunities when I met him in his home back in Oct, 2009. Great man, immortal aviator!

Posted by: Daniel Focsa August 10, 2012 02:10 pm
It is indeed a very sad news.

I met him for the first time in 2008, and then, several times, in 2009, and published about him two articles, which had made him a great pleasure:

Daniel Focsa, Povestea generalului Di Cesare. Pilotul cu sapte vieti, in “Terra Magazin” nr. 11 (129) / noiembrie 2008, pp. 56 – 57.

idem, Di Cesare, îndrăgostitul de Messerschmitt-uri, în „Observatorul militar”, an XIX, nr. 37 (1020), 23 – 29 IX 2009, p.11

Mr Serban Constantinescu from National Museum of History wrote about him in his book "Aviatori romani in luptele..." (Bucuresti, 1995).

The book of Sorin Turturica, "Cruciati ai inaltimilor" it a great book including the fact he uses the personal memories of Dicezare and some details unknown until now.

Dicezare was a great aviator and a great man. he was so proud, he told me "My father was Italian, and me, I am 100% Dacian (dac)".

"Impressions of a Pilot

Flight is freedom in its purest form,
To dance with the clouds which follow a storm;

To roll and glide, to wheel and spin,
To feel the joy that swells within;

To leave the earth with its troubles and fly,
And know the warmth of a clear spring sky;

Then back to earth at the end of a day,
Released from the tensions which melted away.

Should my end come while I am in flight,
Whether brightest day or darkest night;

Spare me your pity and shrug off the pain,
Secure in the knowledge that I'd do it again;

For each of us is created to die,
And within me I know,
I was born to fly.

— Gary Claud Stokor"

Today I have received sad news

WW-II 'Ace' Barrie Davies , died last night.
One of his frequently shared thoughts about General Ion Dobran (Romanian 'Ace') was that the "two former ww2 enemies became the best of friends."
Barrie has ever grateful that they met in Romania and for the welcome so many extended him on that visit.

General av. Dan Stoian died in august 2016. I knew and visited him several times. I published an article about him in "Observatorul militar" in 2009. The first chapter of my book "Aviatori de altadata" (2012) is dedicated to him. RIP
