Hello! Just curious, is there a town or some other locality in Romania called Sidra? I have a German officer’s WWII record that notes he was briefly in command of such a place from 22 March 1917-6 April 1917. His list of campaigns indicates this particular posting was credited to his overall participation in positional combat at Putna and Sereth from 9 January 1917-10 April 1917. Thanks for any assistance!

Best Regards,
Shawn

It seems that in Romania there is no locality called Sidra.

Do you know to what Putna and Siret (Sereth) the officer was referring to? In Bukovina (northern Moldavia) there are Putna and Siret localities, while in the Vrancea county (southern Moldavia) there are Putna and Siret rivers. Both these locations are equally possible as during 1917 the southern Romanian front line was on the Siret River and the northern front line was in Bukovina. If the officer was referring to the localities in Bukovina, there is a chance that Sidra might now be in Ukraine (as northern Bukovina was occupied by the Soviets after WWII). But if he was referring to a location near the southern Moldavian front line, then its name must be misspelled.
