WW2 articles in media, sites or blogs

Hi, guys. I'm new on this forum but I like a lot this site. I'dd like to discuss a little bit about the popularisation of this kind of topics in the media and/or other modern tools (like blogs).

On my blog (http://franckmelen.wordpress.com) I posted yesterday an article about the WW2 using the memoirs published on this site (I quoted the source, of course). The reaction of my friends, who are not particularly interested in the subject, were quite positive, they appreciated the way this subject was presented (a short story with a central idea).

I'dd like so see some other articles on sites or blogs about the WW2 - and I think this forum can have a topic about that, were people who write about can post their links.

If other members of this forum have some similar sites/blogs etc, please make them public on this forum, I'dd like to read some.

About me: I was a financial journalist during 4 years, so I love to write and I will certainly write more about WW2, one of my favourite subjects (one of my grandfather fought in Stalingrad, the other only on the Western front).

What is funny is that Aurel Sandu is actualy the grandfather of a good friend of mine, my ex-colleague (untill the end of 2009) Gabriel Szekely, who announced me today, after seeing my post, that he is the author of the interview.

Yes, he used to be a member of the forum. The name of the author is written at the end of the text.

I was convinced it is just another guy with the same name.

On the other side, I posted another article where I used some parts from this site, about the story of general Nicolae Dascalescu.

I think this site is a good source of inspiration and an excellent data base with facts from the war.

Unfortunately, I was too young when my grandfathers died, both of them being veterans of war (one of them escaped from Stalingrad encirclement and was a good storyteller). I was fascinated by his stories about places which at that time (1980s) seemed so exotic: Nalcik, Crimeea, Caucaz, Kuban, Basarabia, Odesa, Stalingrad.

Very subjective choice of photos... each and every one can be contested - beginning with the first, of course! I never heard of that general until tonight, but I see now why: he wasn't of too much importance!

You should look at Shmoop. In itself, it has interesting and through information on WWII including time-lines, quotes, facts, statistics and photos, as well as a database of other WWII resources including articles, books and reports.
