1/48th scale Muntenescu's Nieuport

Hi guys!

Here's a little video series I made on building Testor's Nieuport 17 into one flown by Ion Muntenescu. This was hard to do as all I could find was a little history on the plane and a picture of Ion. Hopefully I built it correctly.

The video's also include some of my Grandfather's Romanian records as background music.

I don't have much to say about the correctness of the build due to my lack of knowledge in WW1 aviation, but I liked your presentation. It's inspiring and funny.

It's strange! I can't find those pictures of the model that appear on the end of the last video. I'll have to take new pictures and post them sometime.

* Correction...I found them on another computer CD. I'll have to bring that one to the store tommorrow and upload the pictures to my Fotki web site.

Judging by the rear trailing edge of the wing and some quick research that I did here : http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww1/o/1081/213/0#1
I would say that the plane is a Phonex C.1 or Ufag C.1.

Thank you. By the way, you did a great job with your Nieuport project. Your videos are a good guide for a beginner in modeling.
Returning to my plane, there are more chances to be a Phoenix C.1 / Phonex C.1 than Ufag C.1. After reading your answer I saw that Ufag C.1 has all exhaust pipes on one side (the left side), while in my photo there are exhaust pipes on both sides.
Considering the looks of the front of the plane, I am neither convinced it is an Phoenix C.1 / Phonex C.1

My previous search concluded that the plane could be British, based on the pictures/paintings shown in "The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Military Aircraft ", by Enzo Angelucci - plate 4 / page 22. I could be wrong, as those paintings are not at high resolution.

The R.A.F. B.E.8 and SOPWITH TABLOID look somewhat correct in the nose, but they don't have exhausts in the location of the ones in the photo. Also, the wing design is definatly "Central Powers".

I am thinking that this is a captured plane.
