Hello ,

I'm going in Romania for one month in september and I hope that somebody here can tell me where I can find a shop in or in the neighbourhood of : Bucharest , Mizil or Ploiesti . Or maybe somebody knows another good one somewhere else so I can plan my route to stop there on the way to or from Bucharest.
I could not find a decent shop the last two tomes I was there.

I'm mostly interested in 1/35 and 1/72 ancient ( Dacians ) , Medieval , WW2 and modern romanian army/airforce/navy models.

I hope that I can find the help I need here.

Meanwhile thanks and best wishes,
Marco

Thank you Max.

King Arthur I think you will be disappointed because there is one kit of Dacians (not in stock now) and one kit of Romanian army, both from Hat.

You can see on machete.ro what we have in stock and if you tell me what you want I can reserved the kits for you. Use the mail office2machete.ro.

Hello Max and Mr Viking,

Thank you very much for your replies!!!

What I could find last year in Bucharest was a bookstore in a mall close to a big supermarket (Cora or Carrefour , I don't remember ) who had some models but they had nothing special only Italeri and Revell with prices to be shocked! A model that I payed €15 for overhere costed €22 in that shop!!! So that's why I'm also looking for a better shop. I found out that it is the same with Lego ... Much more expensive that overhere...

I am a history freek and a modeller so this is a nice combination.
Since I met my (romanian)wife I also got interested in Romania's history wich appeared to be a rich one. I knew already a few thungs but there is much more to explore. I'm mostley interested in the ancient/Roman period, Medieval period 1000Ad - 1500Ad , and the WW2. For hobby/sport I'm also a 15th century re-enactor.

What I could find overhere in Holland was indeed the two sets of 1/72 figures made by Hät :

8069 - Dacians
8118 - WW2 Romanian infantry ( these look very very much like dutch WW2 soldiers!!! )

and one Messerschmit BF109E-3 made by HobbyBoss 1/72 and from Osprey books I found WW2 Romanian army and the Dacians.

For the rest I could only find mostly expensive kits on ebay and in the shops here only german versions of tanks that were used by the Romanians in WW2...

What I'm looking for is some nice kits from the mentioned periods and maybe if I like them some more modern Romanian army models.
I saw a few 1/35 and 1/72 Romanian tanks and 1/48 and 1/72 aeroplanes on the internet but I rather like to look at them myself before to decide to buy them.

Mr Viking , I wrote down the address of your store and my wife already knows where it is so I/we will certainly visit your store to see what you have...

Hope to hear from both of you again.
Best wishes,

Marco

I wanted to have a quiet life but now I have a Romanian wife! wink.gif

Oh dear c-2... I hope it's only 1 meter below their chins that they shave... wink.gif

Back to more serious things...

I read somewhere, I forgot where, that the National Military museum is now also selling models of Romanian military vehicles and aircraft with, home made but correct, Romanian decals and some books that look like Osprey books...

Is this true?

Some books you will probably find. But not at Osprey printing quality level. mad.gif
Take a look here: http://www.worldwar2.ro/forum/index.php?showtopic=2770

About kits and Romanian decals available at the National Military Museum, I don't know ?! Maybe some forum members from Bucharest know better.

Thank you Max,

I read it and it's the same book that I saw... It looks a bit like one from Osprey...

I'll be leaving for Romania in 6 days from now and I hope I'll be able to manage to get some things...
