The last one. Fuel depot.
1. Tanktruk alley. Fuel tanks, valve and railway in left side.
2. Office
3. View from office to hangar, battery hall and brieffing house
4. Pool for hydrants water.

That's all.

If someone was in this place, or can explain the destination of buildings, or has some pictures from time, I beg to add something here. Many thanks (and a beer...).

Other buildings, like garage office, bath, thermic and electric generators, second alarming house, flight tower, radar/transmition station, amunition depot, fire utility and hospital was put down.

Arhitectural and sociological A.B. Balaci ( Google earth- N 40 km. from Rosiorii de Vede/Teleorman) is an perfect samples of russian air base after war. It's absolutely independent and autonomus. I belived, that Siberia is full of this kind of air and military base.

Also, I see a lot of pictures with old american air base in Pacific islands(Wikipedia). Same history. Same sad HISTORY. "C'est la vie!"

This is off-topic maybe but these buildings, actually this type of post-war soviet-romanian architecture is very similar with the one from Alexeni airfield.
I have seen the Alexeni air base and I can say is at least 80% similarity which makes me think they were type like - designs.
Too bad they are deserted and left to weeds.

ZAPACITU tell de same things. This air base was made for soviet at the time.
Both, and Balaci I am shure was built by "lipoveni" with cart/waggon and horse.
Deveselu was build by romanian in the same mod.

I hope in this summer, to take a litle "interviu" from a man who lived here from beghining, and who knews all history. I hope he is still alive. Mr. ROSU from Silistea-Gumesti. I'll paid the information with "tuica din ardeal". It is a promise (2005).

And about leaving, I'm looking to this poin of view, what we can do?
Airplanes, we have a few, the new one will be in a small number, cool war ended,
.....I don't know.

Balaci is very nice for me, but wherefore?

Some pictures about Alexeeni?

Very interesting pictures and comments, Lucian!

Indeed it is sad to see it derelict. It's too far away from any important city to make an airclub there, but at least it could be used by agricultural planes.

Sorry, I don't have any additional information about Balaci AB.

But I do have a few pictures from Alexeni.

And more important, we (in Romania) have many peoples interested about aviation. We have a lot of "site-uri" with this subject.
Now, I knew this.

On the contrary, I think there is very little information about post-ww2 military aviation in our country. Most people don't care, and those that know don't bother to publish anything. I've made a small contribution in that direction - I wrote 3 short articles

about the RoAF in general between 1950-2006
http://www.scramble.nl/wiki/index.php?titl...anian_Air_Force

about the IAR-99
http://www.scramble.nl/wiki/index.php?title=IAR-99

and about the IAR-823
http://www.scramble.nl/wiki/index.php?title=IAR-823

I hope there will be one on the IAR-93 soon - if I only had more free time.

Sorry for the shameless self-promotion, but I thought some people may be interested - even if the theme of this site is WW2. Any feedback, criticism, adittional info is welcome.

Yes, indeed.
I like this forum. Seems to be more rigorously.
Criticism, ... when I grow up, a little...

For me, the airplanes from 1940-1945 (propeller) and 1950-1960 (jets) were the most beautiful. After, too much technology. Of course, I am subjective.

This year, I hope to make some picture with airfield Rosiorii de Vede today, faund old pictures and somethings written, for a little topic here.

Hi,
One small detail
In 1946 its name was changed to "People's Republic of Romania Air Force".
In 1946 Romania was still a Kingdom, the republic was proclaimed by comunists on 30.12.1947
