http://www.titoville.com/odlikovanja.html

According to this Web page, marshal Iosip Broz TITO of Yugoslavia was given the Order of Michael the Brave in all three classes, with swords in December 1947, when he visited Romania in the absence of king Michael!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ohmy.gif

But even MORE shocking is that Tito was awarded the highest award of the Romanian Kingdom, the Order of king Carol I! Wow... And that a few days before the proclamation of the People's Republic! What a paradox ; communists distributing bourgeois orders to communists! laugh.gif

This does not appear in any Romanian documents. Do they haveany pictures with him wearing the MV Order? Do they give the date or the Royal Decree? If not, I doubt it.

Don't know anything, for the "Royal Decrees"... But one thing is for sure; Tito couldn't have been awarded by the king, because Michael was at Elisabeth's wedding, in England...

In order to award the Mihai Viteazul Order, a Decree needed to be signed by the chief of state. This was the official way to do it. Then the Decree had to be published in the Monitorul Oficial (?translation) to be validated. If these decrees do not exist, then the claim is void.

Hi,

Remember the bright side... What pain in the buttocks was Iosif Broz for Iosif Visarionovici starting with 1948. It was said that Stalin, 70 years old in 1948, was loosing his good mood in an instant at the simple thought of remembering Tito's existence.

Regards,
Florin

"That one was painted different collors from every side!"
It was almost forbiden to go to Orthodox Church (my mom lost job becouse she was celebrating all of the church holidays) and Titos best friend on the other hand was (among other strange personalities) Makarios III! He really received 1000s of different Orders, Plaqets, City keys........ name it and I might try and check for you if there is anything in Serbian archives about Order of Michael the Brave.
Do you want me to try?

Actually, "Monitorul Oficial" translated as "The Official Monitor" where monitor is, in this case, "purveyor of information" is quite acceptable.

It is also the official English translation of the name.

Just type "the official monitor" in google and you'll see how widespread this translation is.

Comes from the French "Le Moniteur Officiel"
