The first official school-related awards were established in 1898. There were three different medals initially:
- "Rasplata muncii pentru invatamantul primar" (Reward for labor in primary schools)
- "Rasplata muncii pentru invatamantul secundar" (Reward for labor in secondary schools)
- "Rasplata muncii pentru invatamantul profesional" (Reward for labor in professional schools)

Each medal had two classes, silver and gold.

In 1906 these medals were merged into one, "Rasplata muncii pentru invatamant", also with two classes. The medal was abolished in 1931, when the "Cultural merit" medal and order were created.

I have only one of these medals in my collection, a "Rasplata muncii pentru invatamantul primar" 2nd Class without ribbon. The medal is signed "Carniol fiul".

Anybody else has more of these rare medals?

Another category of school medals were the medals awarded to pupils (school prizes). There were three prizes: 1st prize (gold), 2nd prize (silver) and 3rd prize (bronze).

The most common of thse medals are the Carol II type, in several variants. But i've also seen Carol I type (various variants, the oldest i've seen is a table medal) and young Mihai I type (before 1930). I don't know if there are such medals with Ferdinand and later medals with Mihai I (after 1940).

Here are two prizes, Carol II type, a 1st and a 2nd prize. The bust of the king and the reverse layout are different. The name of the ministry is also different: "Ministerul instructiunii" on the 1st prize and "Ministerul educatiunii nationale" on the 2nd prize.

There is another official medal that i forgot about.

The medal "Rasplata muncii pentru constructii scolare" (Reward for school building) was established in 1923. It had three classes and the ribbon was white with red stripes.

Here is a 3rd class, with wrong ribbon (from Rusty Knight, http://rustyknight.topcities.com/Romlaboraward.htm):

A school prize from the 1899/1900 school year (from okazii). Great motto: "Lumineaza-te si vei fi".

I don't know the maker. It is hard to tell from the pic, it is too small.

Second Price Carol II. I don't know if it's school related.
