It's my first post here, so I want to welcome everybody.
I'm looking for info on Romanian Panzer IVJ's used in autumn 1944 against Germans. I saw in Polish book (Militaria series no 147) a color profile of a tank with number 421 with description that it was a J version, but profile looks to me as a H (driver side visor). Tank on this profile is dunkelgelb overall with exception of a turret shurtzen which are dunkelgelb with olive patches. My question: Is it really a J version or tank number 421 was a H? Have you a photo of Romanian PzIVJ with olive patches? http://jarek.ukw.edu.pl/rumun1small.jpg (credit: Janusz Ledwoch, Panzer IV, vol.II. Wydawnictwo Militaria, no 147, 2001) TIA Jarek Gurgul This post has been edited by Jarek PL on May 21, 2008 12:34 pm |

Hello Jarek,
The cammo scheme looks similar to a photo of T-4 number 411, a Panzer IV H delivered by the 23rd Panzer Division, in the summer of 1944. http://www.worldwar2.ro/foto/?id=231&area=...=13&language=en A correction to the profile: Detaşamentul blindat general Niculescu (the Armored Detachment General Niculescu) did not participate in the operations in Hungary, being disbanded on 28 September 1944. |

As said Ruy in Photos of Romanian tanks in Moravia'45 post:
"It contains the following photos: a M3 and a SU-76 destroyed in Lanzhot, two photos of Soviet 122 howitzers M 1938 firing against German positions, two shots of US-made M-16 AA mount on half-tracks; there's also a photo of a destroyed Romanian Pz.IV Ausf.J." And sorry I don't read czech ![]() As soon as I have new picture on romanian armor, I post it in this forum ![]() |
